GOLF AND TURF

a.jpg

The primary shortcoming with lawn care, in particular with regards to golf course maintenance is that it is heavily reliant on chemical treatments. As the grass absorbs the unnatural chemicals applied, the soil becomes increasingly unhealthy. The large doses of N-P-K’s act as steroidal boosters but can block the absorption of other key nutrients necessary for healthy and balanced growth. The grass can in turn, become weaker and more subject to pests and disease. To combat this, conventional treatments rely on chemical herbicides and pesticides which when combined with the over use of fertilizer chemicals, create an unhealthy soil environment that can be harmful to the essential beneficial micro-organisms in the soil. Without these organisms, soils can not remain balanced and plants will not grow healthily, therefore escalating the need for additional fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides. The secondary negative impact these practices cause is nutrient run-off and water pollution. Other factors to include are the continued rising costs of chemical treatments.

The goal of each of the treatments we carried out for the clients, was to demonstrate how the use of Micronomix can:

• Improve grass root development, thatching and greenness.

• Rehabilitate highly stressed areas where growth is stunted or not present

• Reduce chemical fertilizer consumption by 30% from the start of treatment

• Reduce symptoms of fusarium

• Reduce nematode infection rates
